I announced at age 12 that I would carry on the family business which thrilled my grandfather who had put those thoughts in my head at an early age. My father had me work for other people through high school and college which reassured my desire to own my own business. I furthered my education with a BSBA in Entrepreneurial Studies at Xavier University and came home to work for the dealership in 1998 as a used car sales consultant. In 2002 I became a master certified dealer and was named Honda’s youngest dealer principal in the country at 26 years old. In 2007, I built a one of a kind, new image Honda Toyota dealership and our team earned the manufacturer’s President’s Award for 7 consecutive years.
Our family has deep roots in the Portsmouth community beginning in 1847 with a small hardware store and later expanding into automobiles, lubricants, finance, commercial insurance and heavy trucks and trailers. It’s a great American love story whereby a community wrapped its arms around my family through World Wars, floods, the Great Depression and many other trying times over a 170 year period. This town has been very good to us and we feel an obligation to give back in any and every way we can. We are forever grateful for our hometown.
I have a passion for finding the next opportunity for growth whether it be vertical or organic and a desire for building highly effective team that operate without my direct involvement. I love seeing our employees succeed and know that without a large group of talented people none of this would be possible. I’ve made more mistakes in my career than anyone I know. I’ve learned a ton and love sharing those experiences with others hoping to save someone some unnecessary trouble and maybe showing them a faster and easier way.
When I’m not at work I love being with my wife, Monica, and daughter, Alex, and our puppy, Ruby. We love being on the water wherever we can, be it fresh or salt. My newest project is the restoration of our original building at 206 Market Street where the dream began. We look forward to many more years of prosperity in this little river town with the people we love.
