Mindy Martin

Visiting Angels

Mindy Martin’s journey leading up to becoming Co-Director of Visiting Angels could easily be described as providential. Graduating from Shawnee State University in 1991 with her associates degree, Mindy pursued a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She worked at numerous skilled nursing facilities in the area including BestCare Nursing and Rehabilitation and Golden Years Convalescent Center to name a few. She also worked in-patient rehab at SOMC for 5 years. Home-health care would eventually lead to her desire to change the way individuals are cared for. Mindy has worked with clients at every level of care. Working with such a variety, she realized people typically recover and thrive better when they’re in their own home versus a long-term care or assisted living facility. It broke her heart to witness many patients removed from their home solely because there wasn’t a family member or trusted person to stay with them to insure their safety. As a result, many individuals were in danger of falling or declining due to lack of care provided. Starting the local branch of Visiting Angels, the #1 home care franchise in America, has allowed her to provide such services.

Visiting Angels provides services in Scioto, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Jackson County. Mindy loves serving her hometown, giving back to the community that has permanently shaped her life for the better. She directs Visiting Angels alongside her husband, Tom Martin, who works for FLUOR BWXT as a project manager. Together, they are also directors of White Gravel Mines Productions, a faith-based nonprofit organization located in Minford, Ohio. Tom and Mindy presently live in Slocum, OH. They are blessed to have a son and daughter, Wade and Becca, both currently students at Marshall University. Mindy feels beyond grateful to the Lord, friends, family and acquaintances that have helped her along the way.

Visiting Angels’ mission is based on the FIFTH COMMANDMENT CORP, referencing the fifth commandment found in Exodus 20:12, “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”  Visiting Angels have offices located at the Piketon OSU Endeavor Center and can be reached toll free at 877-721-4712 or visit their website at http://www.visitingangels.com/piketon for even more information.
